County Auditors
The County Auditors audit, prove, and adjust the accounts of all the offices of Venango County. Each year the auditors must complete an annual audit and financial report, of the prior year, which is filed with the Department of Commerce and Economic Development and available to the public.

County Commissioners
The Commissioners are responsible for the overall management of county operation as it relates to the county budget, establishing policies, authorizing resolutions and ordinances, taxing contract administration, insurance, and legal issues.

County Coroner
The County Coroner investigates all violent deaths and performs autopsies when there is reason to suspect that death may have been caused by other natural causes.

County Sheriff
The Sheriff is the highest local police officer in the county and referred by the courts as the “Chief Law Enforcement Officer of His Bailiwick."

County Treasurer
The County Treasurer is responsible for a variety of licenses, including dog, hunting, fishing, and gaming licenses.

District Attorney
As the chief law enforcement officer the District Attorney has authority over all criminal cases arising within the county and, in the interest of justice, has the authority to prosecute or dismiss criminal charges filed by law enforcement or private complaint.

Prothonotary / Clerk of Courts
The Prothonotary / Clerk of Courts serves as the chief clerk and record keeper for all civil and criminal proceedings.

Register & Recorder
The Register and Recorder is responsible for a variety of tasks, including the registration of wills and processing of marriage licenses.
